Education*   Common School
Occupation*   Housewife
Note*   DESC: She was adopted by a Walker Hughes
Orphaned: Adopted by a Walker family according to her death
certificate. In 1880 census lists her as a servent in the
household of William Walker, so she may have not been adopted,
but taken in by the Walker family and used as a servant.
Looking at the birthplaces oftheir children, they moved from
Ohio to Missouri sometime between 1867 and 1869. From this
information, it is assertained that MinnieÕs parents died
sometime between her birth in 1866 and her moving with the
Walker family to Missouri in 1869. Family lore, according to
Grace Alice Wall, wife of Ray Edward Anderson, son of Calvin and
Minnie Hughes Anderson, is that Minnie was orphaned when parents
were killed in a wagon accident. I have also found an Alice
Hughes, 11 yrs old, living with a Richard Boone family and born
in IN and a Lizzie Hughes living with a Em. T.C. Meyers family
and she was also born in Indiana and is 10 years old. Both
families are liviing in Dolan, Cass Co., MO. These two girls
may be the sisters of Minnie, as she was born in Indiana
according to the census. Alice is also found in the 1880 census
in Harrisonville, Cass Co., MO and working as a servant for the
Jefferson Raysdale family, who was a Hotel Keeper. It states
that her parents were born in KY, just as Minnie's parents were
born in KY according to Anderson family stories.

Headline: DIES MONDAY MORNING
Mrs. Anderson Passes Away
After Intermittent Illness
Funeral At Residence
Tuesday Afernoon
Mrs. C. S. Anderson died at her home on West Pacific street*, at
6:30, Monday morning, after an illness that dated back
intermittently to last September. The cause of her death was a
stricture of the bowels, and other complications, which grew out
of this trouble.
The deceasedÕs maiden name was Miss Minnie Hughes. She was left
an orphan at a tender age, andwas adopted by a family named
Walker. She later bore the name of her foster parents.
She was marrie dat Pleasant Hill, Missouri, February 3rd, 1887,
to C.S. Anderson. The young folks lived in Cass county, several
years, but in theearly nineties, they moved to Kansas. They
remained there only about a yuear, however, and in 1893, they
moved to Barton county, which has since been their home.
Five children survive Mrs. Anderson. They are Charles William
now inLos Angeles, Mrs. Iola Carrol, Ray, Lester and Ella. The
three latter are all at home.
In 1888, Mrs. Anders¿÷Êunited with the Baptist church, in which
she maintained a strong interest to the day of her death. She
was a member of the Knights, and Ladies of Security, and the
Royal Neighbors, and of the local branch of the American WomanÕs
League.
Mrs. Anderson was a woman of refined tastes and high ideals.
ThimeÕs vicissitudes never caused her to for the higherand
better things of life. The bereaved family has the sympathy of
the whole city.
