Note* | DESC: She was adopted by a Walker Hughes Orphaned: Adopted by a Walker family according to her death certificate. In 1880 census lists her as a servent in the household of William Walker, so she may have not been adopted, but taken in by the Walker family and used as a servant. Looking at the birthplaces oftheir children, they moved from Ohio to Missouri sometime between 1867 and 1869. From this information, it is assertained that MinnieÕs parents died sometime between her birth in 1866 and her moving with the Walker family to Missouri in 1869. Family lore, according to Grace Alice Wall, wife of Ray Edward Anderson, son of Calvin and Minnie Hughes Anderson, is that Minnie was orphaned when parents were killed in a wagon accident. I have also found an Alice Hughes, 11 yrs old, living with a Richard Boone family and born in IN and a Lizzie Hughes living with a Em. T.C. Meyers family and she was also born in Indiana and is 10 years old. Both families are liviing in Dolan, Cass Co., MO. These two girls may be the sisters of Minnie, as she was born in Indiana according to the census. Alice is also found in the 1880 census in Harrisonville, Cass Co., MO and working as a servant for the Jefferson Raysdale family, who was a Hotel Keeper. It states that her parents were born in KY, just as Minnie's parents were born in KY according to Anderson family stories. 1870 Pleasant Hill, Cass Co., MO Census House # Name Age Sex Race Occupation ValueIncome BP Read Write 83 Walker, William 46 M W Farmer PA , Elizabeth 26 F W Keeps House 2800 300 OH Yes Yes , Sarah A. 3 F W OH , John R. 6/12 M W MO , Minnie 3 F W IN 1880 Pleasant Hill, Cass Co., MO Census William Walker 56 PA PA PA Elizabeth 37 OH GER GER John A. 10 MO PA OH Walker, Minnie L. 13 Servant IN KY KY Haeley 2 son MO PA OH Abt. 1893: Movedfrom Kansas to Lamar, Barton Co., MO Member of Knights, and Ladies of Security, Royal Neighbors Member of American Woman's League Lived with family at West Pacific Street, Lamar, Barton Co.,MO President Truman and Wyatt Earp are from Lamar, MO Obituary: February 10, 1910 Lamar Democrat Headline: DIES MONDAY MORNING Mrs. Anderson Passes Away After Intermittent Illness Funeral At Residence Tuesday Afernoon Mrs. C.
