Excerpt from Family History of Folsom Family by Ruth Cole
'Elizabeth Folsom(James, Samuel Bradley, Josiah, John, John, John) b . 3May
1826 'at the foot of Cove Mtn, 1 mile from McConnellsville, PA.' Whe ther
McConnellsburg was at one time McCOnnellsville - ? However, after locating
Cove, Mtn., PA. I find the town of McConnellsburg at the foot. In 18 26
McConnellsburg was in Bedford Co. (became Fulton Co. in 1850) PA. Whether
Elizabeth lived after her very early childhood in Cambria Co., PA. (N ear
Johnstown) or whether she lived or the River Boat her father James Folsom was
Captain of - is not known. Family story has it that she taught readi ngand
arithmetic aboard the boat to children of passengers. In 1846 - 47 t hewidow
of Ebenezer Robinson and her grown family were aboard the River Boa tmaking
'their way down the Ohio and up the Mississippi to Iowa, where two so nshad
earlier gone to stake claims.' It was one of these sons, Joshua, wh owas 'much
smitten by her charm'. The father, James Folsom, must have establish eda home
at Rushville prior to 1848 - whether he was still operating the Rive rBoat or
not - ? anyway - Elizabeth was m. 25 Jul 1848 at Rushville, Schuyle rCo., IL by
Thomas J. Haswell to Joshua Robinson.
